What is liposuction?

Liposuction, also known as liposculpture or lipoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fatty tissue and improve the contours of the body. During a liposuction procedure, the surgeon makes small incisions in the area to be treated and inserts a thin tube, known as a cannula. Through this tube, excess fatty tissue is gently aspirated. In addition, during liposuction, a fluid is injected that loosens the layers of skin. This procedure is often performed on areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, arms and chin.

Why treat sagging skin after liposuction?

Such a procedure targets the subcutaneous fat tissue but leaves the surface of the skin alone. It is similar to deflating a balloon. Because of the affected damage and the extra space left in the tissue, the skin may become saggy and show irregularities. Liposuction is therefore not an effective treatment for cellulite, stretch marks or sagging skin. Sagging skin treatment is therefore also a complement to liposuction, tightening the skin and actually making the body look taut again, after liposuction.

Skin slackening treatment after liposuction

At Mommy Skincare Clinic, we can restore elasticity and firmness to sagging skin through our HIFU treatment. HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound and is based on sound waves. The release into the skin creates heat, which stimulates collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin play a crucial role in maintaining structure, firmness and elasticity to various parts of the body, including the skin.

When there is severe sagging skin, we have a unique complementary treatment plan with our ‘3 in 1’ technique. This involves applying three treatment techniques for the best results. The treatment takes between one and two hours, depending on the part of the body to be treated. Depending on the degree of sagging, 1 or 2 treatments are carried out.

Which body parts can be treated?

Liposuction is often performed on areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, arms and chin. All these areas can be treated, where depending on the area, the intensity of treatment is adjusted to achieve optimal results.

Preparation

You need to do minimal preparation for the treatment. However, it is important that you recover for 2-4 months after liposuction. It is perfectly normal to have some fluid retention or small fluid accumulations after liposuction. This will subside on its own. Aftercare

After the HIFU treatment, you can immediately continue with your daily activities. The treatment has no effect on further activities. The heat in the skin disappears with an hour, leaving you unaffected by the treatment.

In contrast, our ‘3 in 1’ technique is intensive for your skin, requiring it to recover for at least 1 week. This includes peeling and your skin feeling sore, sometimes accompanied by bruising. We also recommend keeping the treated area out of the sun by covering up with clothes and/or avoiding the sun completely for the first 4 weeks.

HIFU treatment before and after: the results

Immediately after treatment, the skin is red and needs to recover. Around eight weeks after, the results of the treatment become visible. This continues for about 12 weeks after treatment. The sagging of the skin has visibly decreased and the skin has largely regained its elasticity and shape. At this point, a second treatment is recommended to reinforce the effect and optimise the result.

Depending on the degree of skin sagging, the number of treatments is determined. Two treatments are often necessary to achieve a good result.
