Peelings

Before & after

Chemical peels are dermacosmetic treatments that help improve skin on both the face and body. By applying a high concentration of one or more acids, chemical peels stimulate skin regeneration in an accelerated and controlled manner. As a result, old skin is replaced by new, healthy skin.
Our skin therapists specialise in peels. For every indication, we have one or more peelings we can use. The choice of chemical peel depends on your skin type and the specific skin problems to be treated. We are happy to schedule a free intake with you to determine together which peeling suits you best.

Which peeling for which indication

Peeling for Anti Aging
We can apply various peelings for Anti Aging. Depending on the skin, the wishes and the recovery, we choose a certain peeling. In an intake interview, together we look at which peeling is suitable for you.

TCA peeling
TCA, or trichloroacetic acid, is used to treat skin ageing, such as fine lines and pigmentation spots. TCA stimulates cell renewal and the production of collagen and elastin, making the skin more even, reducing pigmentation spots, making pores less visible, and renewing and firming the skin.

Rejuvenation peeling
Due to the exfoliating properties of the Rejuvenation peel, it stimulates the production of collagen. It gives a lifting effect, improves the appearance of the skin and reduces wrinkles. It also helps retain moisture in the skin, giving it a healthier appearance. This peel should be prepared through the Photo Aging Peeling. This results in rapid exfoliation of the skin and improves superficial lines and pigmentation. After this peel, the Rejuvenation peel can be used.

Phenol Peeling
Phenol is a powerful peel and therefore falls into the category of deep peels. It is used to treat deep wrinkles and sagging skin, thanks to the lifting effect of the peel. The phenol peel can bring about significant improvements in severe skin problems that other, less intense peels cannot treat. In addition, it improves skin texture. This peel is applied to the entire face.

Pigmentation spots
Pigment can be located in several layers of skin, so lasers that only work at one depth level can have limited effectiveness. In contrast, TCA actually penetrates multiple skin layers and is well suited for removing pigmentation on the face. The cause of the pigmentation spots is secondary, making it applicable to all forms of hyperpigmentation. Both for small pigmentation spots, and for extensive forms of melasma, TCA peeling treatment is effective.

Acne Peeling
The aim of acne peeling is to reduce acne breakouts and fade scars left by acne. Prior to treatment, a deep cleansing always takes place. The peel works to purify, exfoliate, regulate sebum production, reduce dilated pores and superficial pigmentation abnormalities. Acne peeling often requires several sessions and we build up per treatment to achieve maximum results depending on the degree of acne.

Summer peeling
The Summer peel is specially designed to be applied during the summer months. The aim of the peeling is to refresh the overall appearance of the skin by removing dead skin cells. In addition, the peel works to hydrate to restore the skin’s moisture balance. The recovery time of this peel is minimal, only the use of a good SPF after the treatment is essential.

The peeling treatment

During the treatment, the indication for the peeling is initially assessed. Based on this, the correct percentage and intensity of the peeling is fine-tuned. The peeling is applied to the skin in several layers using cotton swabs. This may cause a slight burning sensation, which disappears within a few minutes. Once the desired depth is reached and the right skin reaction has occurred, a restorative cream and sunscreen are applied to protect the skin.

Preparation

Before coming to the clinic, it is practical if you clean the skin to be treated. Of course, we do this again prior to treatment.

No pre-treatment is required and we do not recommend any special creams for home use, unless specifically discussed with our skin therapists.

Aftercare

General aftercare
Aftercare of a chemical peel is crucial to achieve the best results and avoid complications. Specific aftercare can vary depending on the type and depth of the peel. Recovery is often quick and easy for superficial peels. Hydration and sun protection are sufficient. The skin may show slight redness for the first few hours and flake slightly after a few days. With medium and deep peels, recovery takes longer and may require more intensive care. You may experience swelling, redness and peeling. Read more about aftercare for deep peels below.

Aftercare for deep and pigmentation peels
After a deep peel, the skin requires some time for recovery, replacing the old skin layers with fresher, renewed skin. It is normal that the skin may be red in the first hours after treatment. During the first 12 hours, we recommend keeping the skin dry. We recommend purchasing the recovery gel to speed up skin recovery, as other creams may irritate the skin and adversely affect the recovery process. Pigment spots darken in the first 3 days after treatment as the treatment brings pigment to the surface. With both deep peels and pigment peels, after 3 days your skin starts to peel, reducing the pigment spots. After about 7 days, the skin has fully recovered. During this recovery period, it is possible to use make-up to camouflage the skin. It is strongly recommended to avoid the sun for 4 weeks after treatment. We also recommend protecting the skin daily with an SPF, as at this stage the skin is not yet optimally able to protect itself from the sun’s harmful UV rays.
