The why and when of labiaplasty?
As also mentioned above, enlarged or larger labia are aesthetic and/or physical causes of discomfort. At Mommy Skincare Clinic we make no distinction between causes or motivations for a labia correction. When it is appropriate for you, our specialists discuss the options for a labia correction and what result you can expect.
The labiaplasty surgery
Prior to your labiaplasty, our specialists will conduct an extensive intake interview with you, in which they will discuss why you want a labia correction, what your objectives are and what end result you could expect.
Based on your consultation, our practitioners will determine how the treatment will be performed and how much skin will be removed.
The day of the labia correction, you will be caringly looked after by our specialists, after which you will be escorted to the treatment room. In our comfortable treatment chairs, the doctor will first give you a local anaesthetic. After the anaesthetic has worn off completely and the area to be treated has been disinfected, the doctor or surgeon will use small incisions to reduce the labia in a natural shape. The result will be as symmetrical as possible, after which the labia will be sutured again.
After the procedure, the labia are cooled to prevent unwanted swelling. You can then recover at leisure over a cup of coffee or tea.
Preparation
There is no need to prepare for the labiaplasty. All necessary preparations are carried out by our practitioners on the day of the labiaplasty.
Aftercare
The first few days after the labia correction, the pubic area is still sensitive and painful. To combat the pain, standard painkillers can be taken. It is wise to cool the labia for at least 10 minutes once a day during the first 3-4 days.
After one to two weeks, most symptoms will have subsided, however, intensive sports, cycling and sex are not recommended for the first 6 weeks.
